historical fiction, paying close attention to historical accuracy.
There are a few writing teams dealing with fiction stories. For a discussion of this,
please go to our Playroom page. It seems more common that we originally realized to
have team writers or partners. The amount of time and effort involved in writing is
staggering.
First the authors must decide on what historical setting to use. Then comes research to
make the stories as authentic to the history as possible. Characters have to be created
and developed to portray people of the historic age accurately. The problem must be
crafted and the solution plotted to weave an interesting story. Ah, then the writing
begins! Then edit and rewrite, edit and rewrite yet again.
Team writers have a distinct advantage in this process as one plays off the other with
ideas and corrections. We are avid readers, so for those able to write on their own, we
salute you! As readers, we appreciate your stories.
We come from an area of the country where strangers come to the front door, and
friends to the back. All are given some kind of welcome. Some with enthusiasm ~
others we are happy to see … leave.

| Please excuse the dustiness, as we are still under some construction. |
Our story starts late summer 2000. A friend introduced us to Diana Gabaldon, and we
joyfully read all she had published to date. Victoria was pregnant with twins and out
running errands with her mom, Penelope. After checking with the bookseller, again, and
no news of another book from Ms. D. G., Penelope was rather disgruntled. “When will
they finally release the next book?” she cried.
Victoria, cranky as only a pregnant woman can be, replied, “You want something to
read? Well, then, write your own.”
Penelope gaped at her. “About what?”
At that auspicious moment, a new writing team was born. Six weeks later, so were the
twins. And so we began …
“Once upon a time …”
